I’m really glad you’re here.
I’m Jenna — and I’m the photographer behind J. Whitmore Photography Co. But more than that, I’m someone who genuinely believes in the power of being seen in a way that feels honest and comfortable, not forced or performative.
Photography has been part of my life for a long time, but in 2021 I made the decision to step fully into this work after some serious soul-searching. There’s something incredibly freeing about realizing what you’re meant to do — and even more meaningful about choosing to do it in a way that fits the season of life you’re actually in. That’s how this business was built: slowly, intentionally, and with a lot of heart.
I live in St. Charles with my husband, our two kids, and our very large yellow lab. When I’m not working, I’m usually with them — because family time grounds me and keeps everything else in perspective. I love Mexican food, yoga, musicals, reading, and sushi date nights with my husband. Disney movies always make me cry, the beach will forever be my happy place, and I’m a firm believer that the little things are often the most meaningful.
Those details matter to me — not just in life, but in my work — because they shape how I see people.
When I work with clients, I don’t just want to take beautiful photos. I want to know you. I want to understand what you’re building, why it matters to you, and how you want your work to feel when someone encounters it. So many people come into a session feeling nervous or unsure, thinking they need to show up a certain way or “get it right.” I’ve learned that most people don’t need more confidence — they need to feel supported.
That belief guides everything about how I work.
My sessions are calm and collaborative. We take our time. We talk things through. We pay attention to moments that feel natural instead of forcing ones that don’t. Sometimes that means starting slow. Sometimes it means focusing on details before stepping into the spotlight. There’s no pressure to perform here — just space to show up as yourself.
What I love most about this work is that it’s deeply human. Every session is a chance to tell a story with truth, beauty, and intention woven into it. And often, what begins as a client relationship turns into something more meaningful — a connection, a shared understanding, sometimes even a new friendship.
If you’re looking for photography that feels thoughtful, personal, and rooted in who you really are — I’d love to connect. I’m so grateful you’re here, and I can’t wait to create something honest together.
xo,
Jenna
